Dr Jana Rossouw

Jana qualified as a medical practitioner in 2004 at the University of the Free State. She was inspired to become an obstetrician and gynaecologist while working as an intern at Potchefstroom Hospital in the North West. She eventually obtained the qualification of a Specialist Obstetrician and Gynaecologist from the University of Stellenbosch in 2013 after completing the College of Medicine of South Africa degree and the MMed degree.

Her interest lay in caring for pregnant women and their babies, especially those with high-risk and complicated pregnancies. After receiving a Discovery bursary award, she completed her subspecialist training in Maternal and Fetal Medicine at Tygerberg Hospital, Cape Town, obtaining a Certificate in Maternal and Fetal Medicine from the Colleges of South Africa as well as an MPhil degree from the University of Stellenbosch. One month of her training time was spent working in the Maternal and Fetal Unit at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts.

During this time, Jana has also published several articles in journals such as South African Journal of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Journal of Endocrinology, Metabolism and Diabetes of South Africa, as well as the International Journal of Gynaecology and Obstetrics.

She started working in private practice in 2015, gaining further valuable experience. In 2020, she set up her own practice at Louis Leipoldt Medi Clinic.

“My aim is to care for those with high-risk and complicated pregnancies using evidence-based medicine. My goal is to treat all patients with empathy, respect and a smile!”
